Information We Collect
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored encrypted), along with optional profile details such as your trade type, location, and profile picture. We automatically collect usage data, including pages viewed, videos watched, quiz results, and session duration, as well as device and technical data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers. Payment transactions are processed by our secure third-party payment providers, Stripe and PayPal, and we do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. If you submit content to TradieFlix such as videos, forum posts, or quiz responses we also collect that content, along with any name, trade, and business details you provide alongside a submission. If your account is ever suspended, we record the reason, the date, and any appeal message you submit, along with our response.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the TradieFlix platform, process subscriptions, and deliver personalised learning content. Video and audio you or we upload may be transcribed and processed by our AI service, which uses OpenAI's Whisper and GPT-4o models, to generate transcripts, summaries, quiz questions, and chat answers about course content questions you ask our AI chat assistant are likewise sent to OpenAI for processing. We also use your information to send account-related notifications and subscription updates, to understand usage patterns and improve the learning experience, and to meet our legal obligations under Australian law, including tax reporting and fraud prevention.
Information Sharing
TradieFlix does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We engage trusted service providers who access data only as needed to deliver services on our behalf, including Stripe and PayPal (payments), Bunny.net (video hosting and secure playback), Amazon Web Services (file storage), and OpenAI (transcription and AI chat features). If you submit a video that could be featured on TradieFlix's social media channels Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok we'll separately ask whether you agree to let us use that video and the name, trade, and business details you provide with it; we only do this if you say yes, and only to showcase your work and credit you as the creator. We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of TradieFlix and its users.
Data Security
All data is transmitted via HTTPS/TLS encryption, and passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt algorithms. We implement strict access controls and audit logs, so only authorised personnel can access personal data, and only when necessary. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities in accordance with Australian Privacy Act requirements.
Your Rights
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct any inaccuracies, or request deletion of your account and associated personal data (some information may be retained for legal compliance purposes). You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email or by contacting our support team. If you have concerns about our data practices, please contact us first you may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
